Where do I even start with SAW?! I love it! Every single thing about it. In my opinion, there isn’t a single bad movie in the entire franchise. Sure, some entries aren’t as strong or as good as the others, but I still enjoy every one of them. That moment when the iconic SAW theme starts playing and you know the juiciest, most devious plot twist is about to take place… and someone is about to be completely and utterly fucked... It is truly unmatched.
Take SAW V, for example. When Strahm gets crushed at the end while Hoffman hides away in his little escape coffin… my jaw was on the floor the entire time. Was Hoffman finally going to get caught? Was Strahm actually going to outsmart him? I loved every second of that scene.
SAW is the perfect example of how horror and alt music work perfectly, especially metal. The franchise consistently uses metal music throughout its films, creating an atmosphere that feels intense, and unforgettable. Former Nine Inch Nails member Charlie Clouser composed the original scores, blending industrial and metal influences into the sound of the series.
The first film features tracks by Fear Factory and Front Line Assembly, setting a gritty tone for the movie. And in SAW 3D, the legendary Chester Bennington makes an appearance as a guest character, only to be brutally annihilated by the horsepower trap.
Alternative music fits the SAW franchise perfectly, as it’s so intense, it helps create suspense and dread and adds to that fear factor!
